Munnar: The majestic peaks of Meeshappulimala recently witnessed a thrilling Trekking & Training Camp, successfully organized by the Youth Hostels Association of India (YHAI), Idukki Unit, and EPC Kerala, in association with the Kerala Forest Development Corporation (KFDC). The impactful event commenced on November 8, 2025, with a spirited inauguration by Shri. Raju Francis IFS, Managing Director of KFDC, held in Munnar. Participants experienced rigorous training and breathtaking treks, fostering both adventure skills and a deep appreciation for the Western Ghats' unique biodiversity.
The Department of SC/ST & Backward Classes held a Vision 2031 seminar titled “Social justice-pathways and future vision ” in Wayanad, inaugurated by Hon. Minister Sri O. R. Kelu. MLAs, IAS officers, department officials and community representatives attended. As part of Vision 2031, a State-level seminar was organized by the Kerala Forest Department. Sri Sajeer KV Divisional Manager represents Kerala Forest Development Corporation (KFDC) actively participated in the panel discussion on Ecotourism. During the session, KFDC highlighted various Ecotourism activities undertaken across its centres and Ecoshop products, with special emphasis on its range of sandalwood-based products.The Corporation also emphasized the importance of upgrading the quality of Ecotourism services and expanding product sales through Forest Vanasree Ecoshops. Furthermore, suggested the need to diversify Ecotourism initiatives by integrating and promoting local cultural values, rather than limiting activities to mere accommodation facilities in Ecotourism centres.
